Now is the time to set your sights on continuing the momentum of 2019 by making the most of what promises to be another great year. While overall Class 8 volumes are not what we saw last year, there is still a lot of opportunity. Keep in mind that many smaller fleets weren’t able to get trucks in 2019 and may still need replacement vehicles in 2020. This is particularly the case in the vocational market.
According to all indicators, the vocational market isn’t missing a beat in 2020, and the pace of construction continues to be strong. Kenworth displayed two T880s at World of Concrete in January. Show attendance was excellent even though we expected a much smaller crowd due to Con-Expo being just around the corner. This is yet another strong indication that the vocational market will remain outstanding throughout 2020. According to the Construction Equipment Annual Forecast, increases are expected for home building and water infrastructure. Nonresidential construction is forecasted to remain strong, and the only expected decreases are in fleets and transportation. This market strength combined with shorter lead-times provides a prime opportunity to find new business in 2020. So make sure you are taking full advantage of the vocational market even if this is not typically in your wheelhouse.
Speaking of Con-Expo, be sure to come see us at the show in Las Vegas March 10th-14th. We will have nine trucks on display and are celebrating our presence at the event by declaring March Vocational Truck Month. Keep an eye out for our social media campaigns!
